From Proto-Aslian *nɔɔm (“to urinate”), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *n₁uum ~ *kn₁uum (“urine; to urinate”). Cognate with Mon ဏမ် (nom, “urine”), Khmer នោម (noom, “urine; to urinate”) and Eastern Mnong nôm (“to urinate”).
