Etymology

Borrowed from French neuroleptique, coined by Jean Delay and Pierre Deniker in 1955. Constructed from Ancient Greek νεῦρον (neûron, neuron) and λῆψις (lêpsis), noun form of λαμβάνω (lambánō, take hold of).
