Etymology

First attested as Middle English in 1412. From Middle French mythologie, from Latin mythologia, from Ancient Greek μυθολογία (muthología, legend) μυθολογέω (muthologéō, I tell tales), from μυθολόγος (muthológos, legend), from μῦθος (mûthos, story) + λέγω (légō, I say).
