Etymology
Possibly from the Rhenisch German dialect word Mucken (“brown earth”) + fuck (“foul, decayed”).
Alternatively, the French phrase mocca faux (“false coffee”) could have been borrowed during the 1870 Franco-German War or the French occupation of the Rhineland.
