Etymology

From Old Galician and Old Portuguese mollado (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria). Past participle of mollar, from Vulgar Latin *molliāre, from Latin mollīre. Compare Portuguese molhado, Spanish mojado, Catalan mullat, Occitan molhat.
