Named after Japanese scientist T. Misawa, an author of The mechanism of atmospheric rusting and the effect of Cu and P on the rust formation of low alloy steels (1971) and The mechanism of atmospheric rusting and the protective rust on low alloy steel (1974),[1], with the suffix -ite.
