Etymology

A variant of Megalopolitan; analysable as Megapolis +‎ -itan. Megapolis is derived from Late Latin megapolis, from Ancient Greek μεγα- (mega-, “prefix meaning ‘large’”) + πόλις (pólis, “city”).[1]
