Etymology
The name was found on a list of Guanche slaves as the name of a 30-year-old woman from La Palma, sold on the slave market of Valencia on 28 January 1494.[1][2]
From Guanche ⵎⴰⵗⵏⵙ (*m-aɣens) "like a needle; thin, slender".[2]
