Etymology
Of unclear origin. Tijmen Pronk suggests a derivation from Proto-Slavic *ľubъ (“pleasant, sweet, love”). Silvo Torkar suggests a connection to the old Slavic name Ljubovid (“one of a lovely appearance”), itself from the former. More at Ljubljana.
