Lemiers
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as lumirs in 1208. Potentially derived from a hydronym derived in turn from the term *lum (mud) from an unknown substrate language. Alternatively derived from Latin *Limarias, a toponym derived from limus (“mud, sludge”). Compare Lomm, Lomme and Lommel.
