kunyu
Pitjantjatjara
Adverb
kunyu
- The "quotative particle": reportedly, apparently, so the story goes, so they say
Usage notes
Kunyu is used to convey that the information in the sentence is not first-hand knowledge. For example, it could be used when retelling a story, or relaying a command on someone else's behalf. See p. 190, Semantic Analysis: A Practical Introduction by Cliff Goddard for examples in the very closely related Yankunytjatjara dialect.
