From Middle High German krām, from Old High German krām, probably ultimately borrowed from Slavic, such as Old Church Slavonic gramŭ (gramŭ, “pub, inn”) or črěmŭ (črěmŭ, “tent”).[1]
Cognate with German Kram, Dutch kraam, English crame, West Frisian kream.
