kraurosis (plural krauroses)

(medicine) A condition of the genitals characterized by atrophy and shriveling of the skin or mucous membranes.
- 1953, Transactions of the Southern Surgical Association:
  I believe, as mentioned by Dr. Tyrone, that in leukoplakic conditions, krauroses and other chronic lesions of the vulva, simple vulvectomy will afford practically 100 per cent prophylaxis against carcinoma.

  Originally, the concept of kraurosis was established for a disease consisting of sclerosis, atrophy, and flattening of the genital profile, followed by shrinkage and stenosis of the vaginal introitus; later, the same expression of kraurosis was applied to a similar condition of the male genitals.
