Koedood
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as Nieuwe Koedood in 1839-1859. Derived from a hydronym, potentially derived in turn from a compound of koe (“cow”) and dood (“dead”). The river developed as a result of a major flood in 1373, and the hydronym may refer to cattle killed by said flood.
