kodd
Central Franconian
Alternative forms
- kott
Etymology
From northern Old High German *quād, from Proto-Germanic *kwēdaz (“bad, evil”). Compare the related noun *kwēdą, whence German Kot (“dung”). Following the latter, the spelling kott may be preferable for the Ripuarian uninflected form, but the relation is usually not seen.
