From isten (“God”) + veled (“with you”). Literally, it could be translated as “may God be with you”.

isten veled

Not much heard in everyday speech. Mostly used to say farewell to someone for a very long time, or forever, especially to someone near and dear to the speaker.
Doesn't imply any religious affiliation or belief.
The form of the pronoun veled changes depending on the situation, though the formal variants are lesser used, with the formal plural being practically non-existent:

isten veled (singular, informal)

isten vele (singular, formal)

isten veletek (plural, informal)

isten velük (plural, formal)
