hypergame (plural hypergames)

  1. (game theory) A game that is played by a player based on their own knowledge of game states and their perception of other players' knowledge of game states.
    • 1983, Raymond Smullyan, Five Thousand B.C. and Other Philosophical Fantasies:
      Now, the first move of hypergame is to state which normal game is to be played. For example, if you and I were playing hypergame and I had the first move, I might say, “Let's play chess.”
