Etymology
Blend of hiphop + disco polo. Originally coined or popularised by Polish music journalist Paweł Sito. Upon its emergence in Poland, hip-hop artists created a highly hermetic environment which would claim the right to decide what hip-hop is real and which is not. When some artists began to release more commercial records, they started to be called hiphopolo.
