From Old Galician Eldara, Aldoara, from local Medieval Latin Hilduara, Ilduara,[1] from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from Proto-Germanic *Hildiwarō, from *hildiz (“fight”) and a derivative of *warōną (“to watch, to protect”).[2]
