  1. (chemistry) A gas law which states that the concentration of gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure above the liquid.
    C = H⋅P
Examples
  • In a closed soft drink bottle at 25°C, if the partial pressure of CO2 (H = 0.034 mol/L⋅atm) above the drink is measured to be 2 atm, then the concentration of dissolved CO2 equals (0.034)(2) = 0.068 M.
