harmider
Polish
Etymology
Uncertain. Possibly borrowed from Ottoman Turkish حرامی + دره (“ravine of the highwayman”), a site of frequent ambushes for Polish envoys heading to Constantinople. Sławski proposes a derivation from Persian γarmīdan (“to quarrel”), rejected by most scholars.
