- (medicine, often attributively) Haemophilus aphrophilus, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans (the former name of Haemophilus actinomycetemcomitans), Cardiobacterium hominis, Eikenella corrodens, Kingella kingae — five gram-negative bacilli that are typically associated with being fastidious or difficult to culture and which can cause bacterial endocarditis.
