From Proto-Albanian *gura, from o-grade of Proto-Indo-European *gʷr̥H- (“mountain”), from *gʷerH-. Compare Lithuanian gùras (“promontory”), Serbo-Croatian gòra, Ancient Greek δεῖρος (deîros)).[1]
