Goilberdingen
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as godebrechteswijc around 1200. Derived from Middle Dutch Godebrecht (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ingi-. The suffixed variant eventually replaced an only slightly older compound formed with Middle Dutch wijc (“farmstead, settlement, village”). Compare Everdingen and Helsdingen.
