geôle
French
Etymology
From Middle French geole, from Old French jaiole, from Late Latin caveola (later attested in Medieval Latin as gabiola), a diminutive of Latin cavea. The circumflex on the o is not etymological (no elided letter) and is probably to represent the vowel sound /o/.
