-gat
- (frequentative suffix) Mostly added to transitive verbs (less frequently to other types of words) to form new verbs denoting repetitive action. It may also change the meaning.
- hall (“to hear”) → hallgat (“to listen, to be quiet”)
- mos (“to wash”) → mosogat (“to do the dishes”)

- -gat is added to back vowel words
- -get is added to front vowel words
- -ogat is added to back vowel words
- -eget is added to unrounded front vowel words
