frankalmoigne (plural frankalmoignes)
- A tenure by which a religious corporation holds lands given to them and their successors forever, usually on condition of praying for the soul of the donor and his heirs; - called also tenure by free alms.
- 1908, Mary A. M. Marks, chapter 3, in Landholding in England, page 23:
- The tenure of Church lands was in "frankalmoigne," or "free alms." Tenants in frankalmoigne had only to perform the "three necessities"—to keep up highways, build castles, and repel invasions.
