Prefix
agyon-
- (verbal prefix) It has two different but related meanings:
- When it is attached to verbs indicating strong physical effects, it means to kill something or someone using physical force.
- üt (“to hit”) → agyonüt (“to strike dead”)
- When it is attached to verbs expressing several kinds of activities, it indicates exaggeration, to do something to excess, beyond measure.
- un (“to be bored of”) → Agyonunta magát. - He was bored to death.
- dicsér (“to praise”) → agyondicsér (“to praise to the skies”)
- When it is attached to verbs indicating strong physical effects, it means to kill something or someone using physical force.
