Etymology
From Proto-Semitic *ʕazab- (“to leave, forsake”). Cognate with Arabic عَزَبَ (ʿazaba, “to be far; to escape”) and Biblical Hebrew עָזַב (ʕɔzáḇ, “to leave”).
