From Old Irish ettech, ittech (“winged; having fins; having wing-like appendages; flying, fluttering”), by extension, (“wings, fins”), from ette (“wing, pinion; fin; feather, plume”); synchronically, eite (“wing; pinion; wing feather; fin”) + -ach.
