Etymology
From Old High German *diudisc, northern variant of diutisc, from Proto-Germanic *þiudiskaz. The form dütsch is native in western Ripuarian, in central and eastern Ripuarian it is likely a compromise form between native döksch and outside forms (including standard German deutsch).
