dünyəvi
Azerbaijani
Etymology
From Arabic دُنْيَوِىّ. Surface etymology dünya (“world”) + -vi. The change of the second root vowel from a to ə occurred due to phonological adaptation to vowel harmony rules.
The shift from the the sense mundane to secular is probably resulting from a semantic loan from Russian светский (svetskij).
