Etymology

From Proto-Celtic *dēnos, from Proto-Indo-European *deyh₁- (“fly, move swiftly”); compare Ancient Greek δίεμαι (díemai, “hasten”), Sanskrit दीयति (dī́yati, “fly”).[1]
