Etymology
From Old Galician and Old Portuguese cõello (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), from Vulgar Latin *cuniclus, from Latin cunīculus, from Ancient Greek κύνικλος (kúniklos), probably from a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia. Cognate with Portuguese coelho and Spanish conejo.
