Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *kelh₁- (“to call, shout”), probably via Proto-Italic *klāros (“loud”), containing the suffix *-ros (compare Latin -er postconsonantally).[1] Cognate with Latin calō, clāmō, classis, concilium, Ancient Greek καλέω (kaléō).
