Etymology
Sino-Vietnamese word from 洲亞, composed of 洲 (“continent”) and 亞 (“Asia”). Borrowed from Chinese 亞洲, but cast in Vietnamese word order, with the noun preceding the modifier. Usage of this term has almost completely replaced usage of the direct loan Á châu (亞洲) in Vietnam.
